Located in Israel’s Hefer Valley the Recanati Winery is a showcase winemaking facility equipped with the most innovative technology available today. Owned by Lenny Recanati a native of Israel with ancestral roots stretching back to Italy the winery is the fruit of Lenny’s lifelong dream to produce truly worldclass wines. Chief winemaker is Gil Shatsberg a graduate of the U.C. Davis wine program. Formerly a winemaker at Israel’s Amphorae and Carmel wineries Gil brings to Recanati proven expertise in his field allied to a devotion to artistry and craftsmanship in winemaking.

Wine Advocate 89 points - The 2018 Petite Sirah Reserve was aged for 10 months in 25% new French oak (but for 5% American). It comes in at 13.5% alcohol. Fairly straightforward on opening, this young red comes alive with some air. It fleshes out and seems more concentrated. It becomes more vibrant too. The soft and easy beginning gives way to somewhat better structure. It has a somewhat surprising touch of game (I was assured it is not Brett) for complexity. Always a nice value point in the lineup, this drinks pretty nicely now. It will hold decently but does not need to be held much. It will not reward long aging. There will be 1,080 six-packs released in June 2020. (Apr 2020)
