Initially spending 18 years in a combination of 1st fill Bourbon, rechar and refill casks, the whisky has undergone a finishing period of around 4-5 months in Côte Rôtie wine casks, a powerful and elegant red wine from the Rhône Valley.
Malt Master, Stephanie MacLeod, chose the Côte Rôtie casks as they bestow expressive and seductive qualities, silky textures and fruits with luscious, red berry characteristics
Stephanie comments, “This sumptuous dram is bursting with intense, rich fruity red berry notes of raspberry, lingonberry and red currents smothered in honey. Deeply evocative of an Eton Mess pudding. A zing of candied citrus peel brings balance before mellowing to a smooth vanilla and butterscotch sweetness”
